How to start a blog

I get this question all the time and I am sure you have read all those similar articles over the Internet.

What is a blog, choose a niche, write what you are passionate about, find a domain name, keyword research, choose a good hosting provider, etc. Right?

Many of these articles are solely written to make money out from newbies.

They are laced with affiliate links in every other lines in the so-called tips on how to start a blog. So they can make money with your help.

And they even claim you can make money online right away with their newly-setup blog in seven easy steps; making seven figure online income while you're asleep.

Well, if you readily believe their words, then you must be asleep.

Many excited newbies unknowingly stepped right into their schemes.

And the truth is, they are the ones who actually make money out from these wide-eyed newbies.

I do not deny that you can make money from your blog, even from a free blog.

Many of us do and we are still doing it using Blogger.

From personal experience, one good way to monetize your Blogger blog with Adsense.

If you try promoting other affiliates, the is a high risk of having your blog deleted for spamming or violating Blogger TOS in no time.

Before I explain to you how to set up a blog, let me tell you about the three options for you to choose from.

Read and then only you decide which choice you think is suitable for you.

1. If you are new, and just want to learn the rope of blogging or just want to blog for fun, then you can sign up with any of the free blogging platform. Blogger, TypePad, WordPress.com, Xanga, etc.

For those of you intend to use self-hosted WordPress in the near future, then register yourself for the free wordpress.com to familiarize yourself with WordPress dashboard.

2. If you want to make some money using a free blogging platform, then go for Blogger.

But be prepared to take the risks of losing your blog and online income at anytime.

Even if you are using custom domain.

Here, a custom domain means your blog address doesn't has the name "blogspot.com".

You can buy a domain name from companies like GoDaddy, DNS Park, EasyDNS, etc or even directly through Blogger.
Then host it for free on Blogger.

Whatever it is, if Google finds that your blog has violated Blogger TOS or labeled as a spam, your blog will be deleted and you lost everything (both content and income) overnight.

Of course you can appeal through the 4-Protocol Step. The chances of getting back your blog is rather slim.

You can beg, scream or even cuss on the Blogger Help Forum, but you still won't get it back your years of hard work ever again!

You can still manage to salvage some of your posts if they are indexed by Google. All you need to do is type site:nameofblog.blogspot.com.

From there you can find those posts with the blue word Cached. Just click on the word Cached.

From here, you can copy them out and save it in a file for future use.

3. If you are serious about making money online on long term basis, then forget about Blogger.

The point is when you use Blogger, you are just using peoples' property. And they have the rights to take it back from you anytime.

Cough out some money. Buy a domain name and pay for a hosting service. All you need is about about two hundred dollars plus for one whole year.

If you happy with it, you can renew them (both domain name and hosting fee) again the following year.

The advantage is the day when your blog is well established, you can even sell it away and make some good money.

Then there are many affiliate programs which only accept those self-hosted sites and with your own email address.

Chances is if you paid for it, you will be definitely more committed to your site or blog, rather than a free one.

Now, lets take a look at three main ways on how to start blog:

1. Free Blog With Blogger
